Hello, I'm Tei from Taiwan. I joined BORDERLESS HOUSE Taiwan in 2014 and was transferred to theTokyo office in 2019. In the Tokyo office, I'm mainly responsible for handling accounting-related tasks. After graduating from university, I lived in Borderless House for about two years. During my time there, I met people from various countries and certainly encountered different values and cultures. From that, new things were born, and we grew by understanding different cultures together. We helped each other when in trouble, laughed together, cried together – it was a priceless encounter, much like a family. That's why I'm here, hoping to alleviate the worries of everyone living in Borderless House and to contribute to your strength. I studied abroad in the US while I was in university, and after I graduated from there, I worked and lived in Canada with a Working Holiday Visa. I met so many people from different backgrounds and all those encounters taught me new values and perspectives that I wouldn't be able to have without international exchange. I believe that meeting new people from different countries and understanding about them could change your life for the better, just as it has mine. There are countless opportunities of extraordinary encounters waiting for you at Borderless House. I have been interested in other cultures and languages since I was a child. After graduating from university, I worked for a Swedish company for four years, studied English in the Philippines for three months, and experienced the Working Holiday programs in Australia for two years. I believe that encountering a different set of values through cross-cultural exchange can broaden your horizons, help you grow, and enrich your life. Please make friends and family across borders and cultural differences in Borderless House, and spend an irreplaceable time! I will do my best to support you so that your life will be wonderful!

Would you like to make a more peaceful world with us？

We hate each other because of differences from themselves, and that makes discrimination and wars. In my view, what underlies those discrimination is ignorance and indifferent of others. To solve this, we need to spend time together. I believe it is the best process of accepting our differences and understand each other to be naturally by your side by sharing the same time. I learned this from own experiences through my life so far especially in the shared residence when I was in Malta. We, Borderless House can produce the moment even it is a tiny thing, but can make the peace of the world. Moreover, the time you spend here must be a treasure for you individually! I want to work hard to provide you the oppotunity to spend the time that would be part of your precious life, and to create a more peaceful world with you!

The world you see changes depending on how you look at it.

I had a passion to help those who are in socially vulnerable positions since I was young. I worked on conflict and refugee issues through internships at several NGOs then I realized the structural violence such as discrimination and prejudice lies at the root of social issues. In Japanese society, “standing out” from others sometimes makes life difficult for us because we are sometimes overly concerned about how others think about us, but it doesn’t always have to be like that. The world you see changes drastically depending on how you look at it. At Borderless House, you will encounter diverse values that give you a chance to be aware of your stereotypes and the way you look at the world and yourself will never be the same as they used to be.

A homestay in Canada when I was 14 years old got me interested in cross-cultural exchanges and languages. As a university student, I studied sociology and gender studies at the University of Frankfurt for a year. After that, I had a chance to work in Germany for two years. One of my favorite things to do is to travel and to use that chance to interact with local people. I like to see the everyday life of the country more than sightseeing. People have said to me, 'You have one more home in the world!' and it fills me with so much joy.BORDERLESS HOUSE will surely become your home, too! Let's meet new people and broaden your horizons! Hi, I'm Avery from Taiwan. In the summer of 2019, I participated in an international volunteer group in Frence. Lived together with different people from all over the world. We hung out, worked together, and shared our life stories. Although It only took me a month to stay there, those days have been wrapped in my memory. I also understood the importance of languages. “Knowing from face-to-face communication is more interesting and memorable than from books and the internet.”. I think it's great to get to know people from all over the world through language exchange. Although I don't have the experience of studying abroad, I have made many wonderful memories with people from other countries through exchange activities in Taiwan.
